Superb quality rifle - beginners have a look

Dfor is selling a lovely Walther 55 break-barrel match rifle for only £110. While it is not recoilless, it is an extremely accurate rifle and has a very, very fine trigger. It's beautifully made and very cheap! Good for starting out, will take you a while before you will need something better. The weight of the rifle and the low recoil mean that it is easily controllable. The sights alone are worth more than the asking price!

I bought a FWB300 from Dfor and it was a pleasure to do business. Only reason I haven't bought this one is that I have a Walt 55 already!

I agree that the Walther LG55 is a very fine rifle. It was made from the mid-1950s until the late 1960s very specifically for the large and growing German 10m target market. It's reputation as a high quality precision instrument, albeit with a recoiling action, enabled it to survive in production despite having to compete with recoilless or semi-recoilless match rifles brought out by Diana, FWB and Anschutz.

The Walther LGV which replaced the LG55 added a barrel lock and, later (in the LGV Spezial), counterwound springs and a new trigger to increase accuracy and deaden recoil still further, but the LGV was basically an LG55 with refinements.

Spare parts for the LG55, including the synthetic piston seal, can be bought easily from Germany or from JG Airguns in the US.
