Just got my hw80 and put a varmint 2.5-10x42 scope on but it is shooting to high and and even with adjustment turned right down its still shooting 3 inches high. DO I SHIMM REAR OR FORE MOUNT. I think it is fore mount after reading old posts but would someone please clarify this please
shimm the front mount.

...tube in the front ring. But before you start snipping and stuffing, first consider that too much of this (more or less) good thing can be very bad - "bad" meaning a crimped/bent scope tube.
So - a question, at what range is the gun shooting 3" too high? If the answer is 10yards or less, there may be some other more fundamental defect that needs to be seen to.

Surely you must raise the rear mount for the scope to cros the trajectory of the pellet...I fyou raise the front they will never meet....

Nah. put it in front ring to make cross higher than poi. therefore you must lower the gun to get reticle to centre on target.Originally Posted by albrown
