    Pics of an early HW35E

Here are some pics of a very early .177 cal Burgo branded HW35E, probably from the late 1950s. The first pic is of the cover of a brochure from around 1958 or 1959, belonging to a US collector, which has an illustration of the first export pattern HW35.

Proof (if it were needed) of HWs timeless design of the marque. More than streets ahead of anything else on offer at the time (I would guess- as I didnt arrive until a few years after this).

    Nice rifle- still is.

Unusual checkering in front of the trigger guard?

Should that be there, it looks like someone has scraped it on with an axe

Personally I wouldnt give any HW35 houseroom

There's a few 35Es around with the same chequering. If it was applied by axe it's some mighty delicate axe work.

Catlover, never heard of the 'Hofmann HW35'. Maybe I.J. has?

    Hi Garvin

Hoffman was a trade name used in the 1960's and early 1970's.

There was one sold on here last year.

I will mail you an old article by Tom Downes on them when my AOL decides to work.

    All the best Mick

... Yes, Alan's has that, too, so I imagine it is as they all were at that time (and I really want one ).

    I've never ever seen that.

Gareth it wouldn't be hard at all to checker a triangle like that onto an an HW35 if you have a spare stock

Still think it would make better firewood though
