BSA Light Pattern. Old tap loader style airgun.

I think the answer is yes.

Repost this in the collectors corner... they'll tell you straight away.

Nik there were various peep sights that were optional for the pre-War BSAs, most of them stock mounted. Your best bet may be to obtain a No.8 sight - you get them on the auction site from time to time, though not cheap. They are really better suited to the pre-WW1 straight hand stocks but can be made to fit the post-WW1 semi-pistol grip stocks with a bit of modification.

Obviously if there's any movement between the stock and trigger block (ie loose trigger guard screws) this won't help consistency if the sight is mounted on the stock.

    Rear peep sight

Unlikely that a model 8 sight will turn up but you could look at the modern tang type, stock mounted rear peep sights, such as Lyman. Expensive however. Most are designed to mount on the rear stock and made in different heights, same principle as the BSA Model 8. BSA also made the type 21 peep sight which fitted into the rear sight dovetail and the 21a fitted to the stock. These would be rarer than the Model 8...various USA makers do manufacture peep sights which fit into the rear sight dovetails, designed for powder burners but would do the job. I have a small Marlin rimfire folding rear sight fitted to the dovetail of a Mark 1 Meteor, works fine.
