    bsa meteor identification

a friend has been given an old meteor .22 which he needs a stock for,i have no idea of what mark it is so am asking for help.the scope mounts are 4 seperate grooves which are like lumps on the cylinder.the rear 'lumps' have the bsa logo on them and the bsa meteor name on the top of the cylinder has the 'bsa' in what i can only describe as an arrow head.
    the serial number is t7504.

From the description it sounds like a MK1.Is the metalwork blued or painted?
The original stock has groves in the forend,I'm not sure if any of the other models would fit.I'm sure someone here can verify the which MK. its by the numbers you have given.

    crikey,that was quick!
so it looks like it's a meteor mk1 then.
what's the chance of getting a stock for it?

    Hi Bigchap

I think HWVixen had a Meteor MK1 stock for sale a while ago.

Meteor stocks from MK1 to MK4 (solid cocking lever) are interchangeable.

Meteor Mk5 can be made to fit but you'll need to extend the cocking lever slot in the forend.

    Hope this helps

    All the best Mick

agreed, but they are good fun ..

Here's a Mk5 I got off here for £40 .. mind you it was in a right old state when I got it and the list of faults was both obvious and long (funny the seller didn't mention that - buyer beware I suppose. Depends on how honest you are.)

Did it up from scratch, total cost to me (I got given the sights for free ) has been £56 and now it's tight, solid, smooth and doing about 9ft/lbs. Accurate as anything up to about 25 yards on the open sights You either love Meteors or hate them .. my first rifle was a Meteor ... memory lane here we come. That's why I bought one, not for any serious shooting.
My wife complains that I've got more sense than money.
