Nitro cylinders?

Hello!

I don't know much about BP pistols, other than they take longer to load and clean than to shoot

I heard someone say that they use bullseye with a nitro cylinder What does this mean? And as its using smokless powder, I assume normal firearm cleaning procedures are used

Can someone please enlighten me about this, as it seems to make the whole muzzle loading revolvers slightly more attractive

Hi Roodles

I have a Westlake cylinder along with the original BP cylinder for my Ruger OA (.45 cal)

It takes shotgun primers & I use bullseye / Acc No 2 / Unique (loads are available in most pistol powders)

Bullet is seated to a stop as opposed onto the powder if you were using BP

I have to say that it is a lovely gun that shoots fantastically well & having the option between the two is a nice treat.

The shotgun primers make for positive ignition as opposed to caps

Its about as close as you can get to nitro pistol shooting (aside of cartridge loaded LB revolvers - I have a Taurus 38/357 with the brace removed & counterbalance fitted)

I still shoot it with BP too though
