As above guys, what are the differences? How do i identify one from the other?
Is it as simple as one being stamped 'MK2' or is there more to it?

Think the stock is slightly different...
Mk1 has round ended bottle and ugly rounded stock.
Mk2 has square flat ended bottle and square edged stock.

The mk1 is truly hideous looking thing,the mk2 is totally transformed and for a buddy bottle rifle they look pretty good.
Cheers guys, i remember firing a MK1 some years ago, i believe the MK2 is a bit lighter in weight as well?

The old MK1 round ended bottles were steel and the newer flat ended ( MK2 ) ones alloy so maybe that's why you noticed MK2 was lighter.
I actually believe the older MK1 stocks were better to be converted into adjustable c/p for use prone.

Yes Mk1 is hideous Mk2 is quite OK and still looks OK with a 400cc bottle.
but if you have no issues with the looks then I suppose either will do.

My S10 is a Mk1 and granted the stock isn't the prettiest plank around, I updated it with a Mk2 walnut stock which from memory also required the replacement of the stock and trigger guard screws as well as the trigger shoe turning upside down.
Being a walnut stock it was also lighter than the beech stock.

I started with a MK1 and upgraded it to MK2 with the new stock and bottle. I then got a MK3 stock for it which IIRC was when I had to change the stock screws, as the later stock was substantialy thinner in the fore end. I don't remeber having to do anything with the trigger blade or gaurd. But is quite a while since I got rid of it, it just would not group compared to my AA S400. Swapped it for a Winchester 101 shotgun (which grouped just as well as the S10)

If it has not had its stock changed they have a stock that lips over the bottle.
A bit like a Theoben mk2/MFR stock.

I'd give a MK1 rifle a home any day.
Crude, ugly, and heavy - but the one I had did the job very well.
Yeah just a change of stock.
A nice change I might add.

I started with a mk1 FAC as well. This gun was delivered with a flat end 400cc bottle (got a leather Stalker cover for the bottle soon after). Terrific gun, but I sold it a couple years back and regret doing so. I Think the MK2 FAC went to an aluminum regulator.. my mk1 has a brass reg that added a good lb in weight over the lighter aluminum ones. RB
