    Help needed - Stuck Smith

    Hi all,
Out shooting today and it ended with a jammed smith. Managed to clear the pellet and remove the mag but now it wont cock or fire.

Wanted to know if there were any surprises inside or should I leave this one to the professionals. Or has anyone out there got detailed pics or diagrams of the internals.

    Thanks in advance

If you take it apart there are some things to beware of.
The spring which swings out the mag will want holding in place with some thick grease on reassembly.
Drop me a PM if you get stuck, I have one in bits and could provide pics if required.
I'm working away Monday & Tuesday so until Wednesday I may not have internet and will be away from my workshop,

If anyone does get a partially fired pellet jamming the mag on a Smith you can release the mag and move the pivot out far enough to allow the hammer to cock with normal force.
If necessary you can re-gas before cocking to ensure you have enough oomph to eject the pellet.
Never rely on force to get anywhere with the Smiths as there's a lot of mechanism in there you could strain,

    Unhappy Jam tomorrow

    HI
Providing you have not tried to rotate the mag for the next shot I find a bit of dowelling down the barrell can tap the pellet back into the mag. But GENTLY. Then remove the mag and empty it as well.

    Hi Guys,
Sorry model is a 686. Forgot to mention I allowed a new shooter to have a go - came back jammed.

Finally plucked up courage to have a look inside. Put her in a bag and opened her up. Bit of a mess inside, one broken 'hand' (13)spring although there appears to be another in place and the 'safety plate' (20) appears bent.

Cleared up some of the mess and tried to reassemble, thanks Nick for the tip with the small spring. But I still can' get the hammer back. Cycles fine with the cover off. What am I missing?

    Regards
    Ian
