NO, dont do that !
That's a bit of heritage there in your hands (the stock Stephen).
the main reason i wanted to know is due to the fact that it might get butchered so i can fit a bsa meteor mk1 action into it for my son,if it was of any use to a collector i wouldn't do that.another thing that might help with id is that the screws in the fore-end of the stock would screw up at an angle into the action.

It might be a Milbro G 80 stock

Notice the 'might be' there
Pretty sure its an early Milbro G80 stock, there were two types one with a flat end and chequering as here, one with no chequering and a more sinuous shape. However, the G80 stock had Melamine finish, which this one seems not too. Good thing too as it flakes off like a very flakey thing indeed. Another possibility is that its a G79. Its def. a Milbro.
Do not buthcher it! Very much of use, to me for example, have an orphaned action. I would have it off you or swap it. I've got a number of stocks, Hawk Mk1, Tracker, QB 78, I would swap for it.

Yep, just looked at Chambers webby,
The 'Series 70 G79' stock has all the features (inc. that plaque/disc) & the recoil pad is shaped the same.

'Red Feather' (on the Dianawerks Collective Forum) wins the id prize & said...
"These were the last of the Milbro's and well rated."
The Chambers diagrams are often rather sketchy - but I'm not complaining, they are a fabulous resource for all airgunners .
Mr Ogilkes tells me most Milbro/Diana guns have the angled stock screws set-up.
