There is still no definite release date for the Centennial Tempest, but it shouldn't be too far away.

Centenial of what? Webley didn't produce any airguns until the 1920's, and as far as firearm manufacture goes, I'm pretty sure they're well past the 100 year mark.
The South of England has 2 good things, the M1 and the A1. Both will take you to Yorkshire.

I suppose if you wanted to make a centennial connection for market exploitation (heaven forbid the thought!) you could make the the case that Webley's first air gun, the Webley Whiting, was patented and prototyped in 1910.

Cheers ccdjg, that's another fact snuffled away for storage . Love this place, as every day here truly is a fascinating school day. Hadn't even heard of the Webley Whiting until just now. Was it a pistol or a rifle? Anyone got any reference links to pictures or diagrams etc please ??? Atb: G.

Pages 1 - 8 in Bruce's book cover the Whiting project.

There is also a summary of the Whiting and some info' about modern replicas in The Encyclopedia of Spring Air Pistols pages 330-332. You can find a scan of these pages at the following, although the quality of the scans is not great.

    Centennial model?

I reckon, that if Webley wishes to celebrate a hundred years of airgun production with a financial venture they should replicate the Whiting pistol-not a Tempest. Not that the Whiting ever got into production.

A, but that's not nearly as cheap and easy as opening up all the crates of tempest parts you've managed to buy at a knock-down price from a recently defunct company and screwing together as many as you can from all the buckshee bits.
