    Best anorak?

I'm thinking of getting a period anorak to match my 1980s springer, and I was thinking that what with the cold weather and all, a snorkel parka with the orange lining would be the best thing. Does this qualify as an anorak? Cortina Mk 3 1600s are in short supply too, does anyone know why?

    Hi,
a snorkel parka with the orange lining would only match an old Italian motor scooter with loads of mirrors and bolt on frippery

Snorkel Parkas are to collectors anoraks, what Turkish Webleys are to Webley collectors ... You want a nice, diamond patterned quilt style navy blue one with red lining al-la Millets circa '74 vintage.

Nope, no self respecting scooter boy would be seen in a snorkel parka, as the cover-alls they wore in the 1960s, and then the revivalists in the late 1970s/80s, had to be army surplus US GI parkas. The fur was an extra that some added, but most didn't. Trust me, I know me anoraks.

You don't want any of them.

What you DO want is a Navy Blue Kagool.

Ideally one with a single pocket across the chest that doubles as the carrier bag.

Turn the clock back in an instant.

You're all wide of the mark. If you want to see an example of period anorackery look no further than the mid to late 70's box lid for either a Webley Premier or Junior air pistol; the poor lad's even complete with a basin hair cut Could somebody post the pic so's you can all see where you're going wrong?

Correct. Somewhere to put your Spam sandwiches which your mum put in the outer wrapper of the loaf. One with cords through the hem with white plastic toggles on the ends.

... That’ll be the thermal quality of such a superb Kagool in ‘anarchists’ orange then (nice toggles by the way).

Sounds familiar. Are you the one that nicked my Kagood from the peg outside the maths class?

Are there any spam sandwiches left?
