    BSA prewar gun box?

    I recently acquired this little chap;

    Now, this is the thing...Although the gun looks like it has been in the box for donkey's years, with associated rubbing to the box interior, and loss of blue to the muzzle crown, I know from previous threads on here that not all of these are actual BSA made/supplied items...This is the first box I have owned, so have no way of telling if it is genuine, apart from some advice from a couple of fellow collectors. I have taken several pics., and any help or opinions would be gratefully received. The gun itself is pretty good, with the bonus of the rear aperture sight, which sadly has lost it's elevation screw, plus someone has been filing the sear notches......in fact it was showing all signs of being taken apart a fair while ago (there was a new, unused washer set in the box) and someone getting in a mess because of the wrong springs used in the safety sear trigger group......Luckily I have all the parts to sort this out , so it will be going soon.....although I don't think it's power would make it suitable for much more than Bell ringing, or short range plinking......The check straps need a bit of TLC, as does the handle, but apart from that all is pretty good.......some close ups here to help;

    Thanks in advance, I can't wait to shoot the little fella, although I could have bought a blinking PCP for what I ended up paying for it..no contest then

    It would seem to be the second of the three versions of the wooden case made for BSA air rifles before the 1st world war, and as far as I can tell it looks correct.
    These are not common, so a nice find.

    Hi Eddie,

    Looks similar to my "2nd" grade of case (1st being lined and 3rd with no handle) and appears to be all correct, so a lovely find. Well done. Just added a nicely etched 20's Standard from Newark to the collection today, so have to compare guns next time we meet up!

    Kind Regards,
    John

    The experts seem to think it's genuine, which makes it a FANTASTIC SCORE Eddie. Congratulations.

    Hi Scott, no mate, about 22 miles down the A38 south from your house........when I realised it was a juvenile, and the case looked pretty correct (although I was not 100% sure hence the questions on here)..I realised that it must be a pretty scarce combination, so I went for it....it looks like a toy gun next to my 45" Mod D, just a shame the larger gun I have is not a side button lever as well otherwise they would look like these two beauty's (Not mine, ....unfortunately )

    Hi Eddie, That is a cool find. I would live to find a box one day.

    I would also like to find a juvenile for the kids one day. Are you coming back to the states later this year?

    Had the nipper out shooting in the sun today......goes very well at 505 fps, but looks tiny compared to "Dad"
