Shepreth Results 7/3/10

I don't think we could have had it any better today, we had the sun shining, we had some wind (just a little bit ) and the course was a real pleasure to shoot. Well done to those who got a gong for their efforts, considering how much you had to aim off the plate for some of the shots, the scores are quite impressive. A big thanks to Simon P and Chris for the help in getting the course set for todays event and Bruce and Simon J for helping with the last of the clearing up. Also thanks to Sarah And Sue for the great food all day. See you all in 2 weeks for the SHS / MHS finale.

Great day Mark, I really enjoyed myself, especially after I went round again and ironed out all the hiccups! Graham, I'm glad Blane enjoyed himself he seems to have a good natural ability and I'm sure we'll see great things from him soon.

I had a grand day yet again at Shepreth. Can i thank the course setters and wind monkeys for creating and interesting course.

Great to meet up with old friends and make new ones . i was priviliged to go around with Gretal and Emma Lilly who were fabulous company and a good laugh 'SHOT'

Just interested though Mark if the call on a target is deemed wrong validates
a donut? was meant to ask you today. I Know and clearly got a kz on the first part of the course but didnt want to call it, last time i got a 0.

Absolutely cracking day!
Thoroughly enjoyed this one; if only for the sense of blissful optimism and quiet relief when I hit something

A blooming cold day that would have been lovely if we had found a 6' sheet of glass to stand behind the whole time. - Has Bruce considered adding a conservatory to the back of the stock? That should fit the bill nicely. I thought the rope carry handles situated around it with the two tyres at the front was a nice touch. Never know when those flash floods may strike. I understand this was the mere 'lifeboat' sized version to the full QE2 scale version, though a pop-out mini-bar from the hamster is on the drawing board.
I think the wind chill factor from that biting Easterly is just starting to make itself known as I'm looking not unlike a Ribena berry from the neck up.

A big well done to Larissa who valiently accepted the challenge to do the round using one of my .22 springers. It was zeroed, ish, and the scope was attached, ish... so all things considered I think she did blooming well.

I in my new-found 'Bayonet Class' had an absolute ball. I don't think I've enjoyed an HFT round this much in yonks. Even though I couldn't actually see half the targets. I thought peg 30 was a small blue acorn until Larissa told me it was actually a squirrel.
The sheer delight in hearing a *TING!* was enough! How on earth I managed to knock down 6 of the blighters I don't know; and they were'nt all the 8 yarders either! Much to the amusement and bewilderment of those around I somehow struck lucky on the 45yarder bunny around peg 19 and then the obscured kill up in the tree. If I hadn't got the 4 donuts I'd have done better than some of my shoots with a scope! Eeek!

So, on the plus side a very very enjoyable day.
On the down side... um.... nope, it hasn't exorcised the urge next time I'm thinking maybe a pre-WW1 model.....
