falcon question

Can someone please explain the difference between the raptor and hawk falcons. I have been on their website and its about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Having had a look it appears the main difference is the cocking?

Anything to be aware of when buying (common faults etc?)

The raptor cocks the action and moves the mag round with one single bolt (like the S410). The hawk on the other hand, has a bolt for the mag, and like other falcons, a seperate bolt for cocking the action.

Thanks Martin. I did own a titan singleshot 10 years ago and wondered what the difference was. I have been offered a Raptor .22 with 4 mags, 19" action, beech stock sling, nikko scope, gunbag etc for £250 and in mint condition. Looking on the BBS it appears to be a reasonable deal.

Well they say everything tastes like chicken but I don't do kebabs though. I take it the falcon deal is worth it then?

I normally use .177 I have a steyr and a seriously modded 400 (well the missus does now as she nicked it!) and wanted it for plinking in the back garden to get away from the seriousness of FT etc. I suppose I would have no issues selling it on if its not for me?

The Hawk doesn't have a bolt for the mag - it has a button and probe system. Press the button and the probe flies back. Push the probe in to seat the next pellet then cock the action by the side cocking bolt. I had a Hawk system and it worked flawlessly.

for plinkin in the garden! try hitting tictacs at 35 yards ,i find the falcon is all ways thorght of as a bit off a dinosaw but i can put 16 acupels in a 20 p bit hole at 35 yards , v under rated, hawk mags are 8 quid

Oh dear oh dear

Only comment to add - I had my old Titan converted from single shot to Hawke multi-shot this year (great service from Mr Cooper et al - they must've been in a quiet patch ). The mechanism for reloading as described by Darren is a bit noisy - so for hunting it's a bit dodgy.

Accuracy-wise, this old gun in .22 gives my .177 AA S410 a run for its money.

BUY it before you lose it!!

Thanks for the advice guys. I will part with my hard earned wedge on Friday and pick it up then. Big Dave I will keep you posted when I get it and whether I will be keeping it or not.
