Filling BSA Buddy Bottle with a Pump?

Is it possible to fill a BSA Super 10 buddy bottle with a stirrup pump? I've just got the gun, so I'm a bit brassic. A mate at work has loaned me his Webley pump untill I can get a bottle, but I can't seem to generate enough pressure to open the valve on the bottle.

Am I barking up the wrong tree?

    Thanks

hi mate, if the bottles totaly empty you may have problems filling it to start with. have headr some guns need a little air in the bottle to keep thge valve closed.

had the same problem with a stealth bottle, but pumped like a budda for about five mins and managed to get a little air in after that was just plain old pumping. might be best to see if theres a place or mate that can give you a fill for the first time.

hope this helps you out a little

    BSA s10 bottle

I use a RWS pump for mine(both 200cc and 400cc). It's hard work though so i can see the benifits of charging gear. But as i get around 700 shots from the 2 bottles i dont have to so often. My local gunshop can fill them so maybe yours can.

I pump up a 200cc bottle no problems, you do need to take a break halfway through to let the pump cool off a bit, but if you pump up to a reasonable pressure (say 150 BAR) and then let the bleed off quickly (to blow out any moisture) the bottle should seal fine, if it doesn't you can just close up the bleed and continue pumping up to 232 bar when the pump has cooled, and it should seal then.

It might sound a silly question.
    Is the bottle empty?
Was it on the S10 when you got it? if not try screwing it on and shooting.
Have you tried contacting your local dive shop to see if they refill them?

Sorry if it sounds a bit of an insult.

Thanks for all your responses. The bottle did have some air in it (I bought the gun mail order from Uttings), but I wanted to see what pressure was present and to try out the pump.

I seem to have got the knack now, and I've managed to fill the bottle successfully. I am now saving up for a diver's bottle...

    Thanks again!

    Great choice of gun.

Its well worth getting a 300bar bottle, it takes seconds to fill your buddie bottle up.

I'm really pleased with it - it's my first pre-charged, and I'm really looking forward to using it in the field. I want to have a go at some FT or HFT too.

I need to set my scope up now. We have a very large stores area at work (about 35 yards long), and I have a supremely tolerant boss, so I can do it all indoors where it's nice and warm and dry!

    Thanks again for your help!
