Vic at Protek is as honest as the day is long........
I have just ordered a copy of Chris Thrales forth coming book entitled
'Webley Air Rifles 1925 - 2005' from www.proteksupplies.co.uk (Bognor ).
It's not due out until the end of July and I've no idea as to whether I've paid more than the correct price or not but don't care as I would rather not miss out.
If ordered now, there are several options on the website, you can get it for £43,
signed or not, for collection from the shop or more if posted.
I have no connection with Protek other than hopefully as a satisfied customer.

Thanks for the heads up. I've just ordered a copy as well! I don't want
to miss out either!
As this may well be a small volume printing and judging by how similar
books become sold out and hard to obtain (unless you pay good money).
I'm looking on this as a good move.
Just ordered mine. This has been needed for many years and should be good for existing collectors and create new ones.

Got mine.

Done my bit for the BBS: http://www.airgunbbs.com/showthread....-being-a-mod-… now I’m a game-keeper turned poacher.
Here is the situation as I know it:
Vic at Protek was told by a member of staff at the publishers, (Robert Hale in London) that my book was due to be published on the 30th July this year, at a price of £49.99.
When told of this by Vic, I declared that it was news to me as I had not been advised of such by Hale.
I therefore contacted my editor who told me that nothing had been finalised yet, and in her opinion publication might not be until August/September.
Two days ago I received the first chapter back from the designer for my approval.
Today I sent Hale further bits of useful information I had recently acquired which will now be the last submission I will be able to make.
The next step will be that I receive the book back for final proof reading and then it can go to the printers.
So it is definitely happening but whether it will be 30th July remains to be seen. I hope so and it might well be the case but I don't think it is set in stone.
Any further information comes my way I will advise accordingly. From what I saw of Chapter 1 though I am happy to believe that it will be worth waiting for.

The web site can be very slow sometimes.
Blurb for the book is as follows:
"Webley Air Rifles" comprises a comprehensive history of all the air rifles made by the company between 1925 and 2005; from the introduction of the Mark 1, right through to modern pre-charged guns such as the Venom Viper. Beyond dealing with the rifles themselves, this book also covers the circumstances under which the early rifles were introduced, together with information as to how and why they were subsequently developed in the way they were.
It also examines the myriad of fascinating accessories produced to complement the Webley air rifle, together with a chapter discussing the various promotional aids and advertising material used. All these artefacts are supported by color photographs, some of which have never been published before.
This is a book not just for those who collect Webley air rifles, but for anyone interested in how one of England's greatest firearms manufacturers introduced a fascinating range of air rifles and accessories, the popularity of which is still great after some eighty years of production."
