    bsa mercury s

Morning, was looking at some old AGW articles on the S version of the Mercurey. Allways thought an ellegent design but how good are they!. I have a 2nd series Airsporter S and fancy a Mercurey. I know the triger is not up to the reckord unit of the HW 35/80 of the time as i have both ,but for style and pride of ownership i think the Airsporter/ Mercurey are in with a chance. Am I looking through rose tinted glasses or am I right!

Its difficult to choose between the Airsporter and Mercury 'S' variants but in my opinion the Mercury just takes the lead as Im not a lover of the tap loading rifle as I prefer direct barrel feed. The Mercury S is one of the better British break barrel rifles IMO and on a par with the Omega and () Longbow.
All the above, of course, dont hold a candle to a nice HW35 or a tuned 'Sport.

I would also agree, BUT if it was a Bowkett tuned Mercury that's a different story.

i dont believe even the great JB can get a mercury trigger anything like a weihrauch..the trigger on my mercury is truly awful, to say the least.

does the mercury "s" have the same trigger as the standard mercury ?

I have a Mercury S in .177 and it is a joy to shoot. The trigger is fine and it just seems to hit wherever I aim.
