    same as my stock

this is exactly the same stock as my 1985 airsporter s carbine but mine is underlever of course , but i am not sure if the stock i have on my airsporter is the right one as it was on there when i bought it , think its walnut on mine so yours may be off a mercury s

look closely at the chequering again......this is not an 's' model stock.
btw the chequering on the 's' model airsporter and merc were identical

    Hmmm...

...curious, there seems to be a bit of stock sluttiness going on here as some descriptions do/don't fit, e.g. my S stock does not have diff coloured cequering and previous mentions yours seems to be a Airsporter stock

Anyhow you seem to have a nice rifle and 150 wouldn't seem a bad top estimate

my 's' could well have been the oil finish(or whatever finish they used back then!)may have just slightly darkend the chequering panels when applied, the stock on this merc is no way an 's' model,my thoughts are it's the original stock tarted up professionally

The first chequering job i ever did 25 years ago was on a Mercury, the fore end was the same pattern with the grip pattern sharing the same v shaped end. It came out very well except for a slight wonky line on one of the fore end panels!
    Might be still out there!

borrowed these you can see the slightly different colouring in the chequering i was talking about.

if you look at the merc 's' cocking slot then look at mine(far left is merc) you'll see the difference in the shape required for a 1 piece lever(mine) and the shorter slot on the merc mk3/4/ 's' for a 2 piece cocking lever
