Although it turned out decent I'm not 100% happy with the finish Instead of the usual danish oil, I had it lacquered by a workmate of my Dad who lacquers high end kitchen units for a living. The lacquer is very hard wearing so is perfect for this type of thing. He has done me gun stocks in the past and done an excellent job but this time for some unknown reason the lacquer has a slightly milky look in places. I don't know if you can see it in the pictures? Also if I did it again I think I would have used a slightly thicker piece of walnut (I just used what I had) and made both left and right sides more pronounced. Never the less it fits my hand lovely.

    Tiny update:

This is the end cap I made, If you look back at the sketchup design you will see that this part was supposed to be brass but I later decided brass would be heavy and I wanted to save as much weight as possible since its supposed to be a target pistol. So I made the end cap in titanium.

    http://i39.tinypic.com/fngrp2.jpg

This is where my thinking went wrong If I want the other parts to match then they would also have to be made in titanium. The problem is titanium is difficult to work and expensive. Also I think a titanium probe in an alloy breach is asking for trouble.

Anyway I am now at a point where I have sort of caught up to the stage of where I really am in the build. That means I had the thought to take a few photos while making the last few bits.

    Update: Making the muzzle break.

As you can see it's not brass as shown in the original design and and it now fits on a longer barrel that protrudes longer than the main tube. (Hopefully this will be better for aiming with iron sights) The pictures don't show exactly how I made it as I cheated in places because I forgot to take pictures after each step.

First I turned the outside diameter of a long length of alloy down to about 19mm then chopped it off. I then turned the face smooth and chamfered the edge. You can see a small nub left of the face but it ain't massively important since it was gonna be drilled anyway which is shown in the next step.

    http://i42.tinypic.com/99p8io.jpg
    http://i40.tinypic.com/28lzwns.jpg

I then drilled it with a center drill, and followed with increasingly larger drill bits 3.5mm 4.5mm 5.5mm upto 6mm (remember its .177! .22 would be a larger hole) and lastly drilled with a large center drill to chamfer the inner edge slightly.

    http://i41.tinypic.com/14nengh.jpg
    http://i43.tinypic.com/25pr381.jpg

I turned it around and drilled it in the same way as above using increasingly larger drill bits this time up to 11mm which is the diameter of the crosman barrel. I then tapered the edge 10 degrees if I remember correctly.

    http://i44.tinypic.com/1y94sh.jpg

Now I could have stopped there but me being me I had to make it a little different. I milled both sides flat to make it look similar to what you might find on an expensive styer target pistol.

Lining it up with a bit of paper to stop it being marked.

A few passes later and one side is done.

Turning it over for the other side.

    Both sides done.

All that is left to do is drill and tap for a 4mm grub screw to secure it to the barrel and clean up the milled edges.

    Update: Making the trigger blade.

Nothing much to say about this except it had to be nice and wide and have a nice feel and look. Its small parts like these that really seem to take alot of time to make.

To start off I found a scrap of brass which I squared up and marked out. I removed some material by making a series of stepped passes on the mill which means I would have to do less filing to shape.

    After filing
    http://i39.tinypic.com/w83l9v.jpg

Next while it was still square I clamped it up in the vise and drilled the hole for the post. As usual I started with a center drill and used increasingly larger drill bits up to 5mm.

    http://i39.tinypic.com/332yyja.jpg
    http://i44.tinypic.com/15qae4w.jpg

Then I cut it in half with a hacksaw and milled away any bits I didn't want, to make a rough shape.

    http://i44.tinypic.com/2iu5lqa.jpg

Then comes the very long and boring process of filing the trigger to shape.

    http://i40.tinypic.com/2cibfhl.jpg

Next the tiny hole for the 3mm grub screw was drilled. There is a real comedy setup shown here. The drill chuck I use on my mill is pretty old and worn so wouldn't hold the tiny 2.something mm drill bit. I had to use a huge 40int to morse taper 3 adapter into which went a 3 morse taper to 2 morse taper adapter into which went a newer 2 morse tape drill chuck. And after all that I broke the only 2mm drill bit I had. So I had to re sharpen it on the grindstone. This turned out to be the most laborious 2mm hole ive ever drilled.

    http://i42.tinypic.com/4rovuh.jpg

lastly tapping the thread in the hole to 3mm using a small spring loaded tapping aid I made.

This is probably the last update as im pretty close to finished now. I will post the finished pistol later though.

    Looking very good.

Any chance of a link to the Russian site with the breech plans?
