    Period Silencers !

Hi, As above really, there is not much mention about period silencers,
    http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/8153/dscf3982o.jpg

I have this ( 2, In fact ) this is a Galway Whisperer Silencer & adapter, Made around the 1980,s
It fits, Meteors, Mercury,s,Airsporters ( I think ) Lightnings, In fact any 1970 ish break barrels, Etc Etc,

Not much is mentioned of these, I would have thought any collector would want a period silencer

I recently bought a Galway Silencer & adapter for a Sharp Ace off the forum,
Mine has baffles, The one I bought doesn,t have, Any input ?
Here is a Galway " Sharp Innova " Silencer adapter,

    And one of mine !

And a Sheridan fitting & Silencer

And my favourite silencer is " Parker Hale "
On the Innova, Its Whisper quiet ?
So , Any more Galway silencers, Adapters, Etc out there ! Ged.

I have got a Galway on my FWB Sport. It's been there since 1984. I agree that Parker-Hale silencers are a great nostalgia item. They do a damned good job, too.

Hi Andy & All, Here is a couple of pics,- Parker hale silencer & Galway ( Adapter & Silencer together )-

Galway Bsa break barrel Adapter & Silencer apart Pic-

Now I can make an Identical batch of either ?, But the Aluminium is quite expensive, ( I have some old & cheap stock but when its gone) ! Pic-

Would you want the Bsa break barrel adapter " Only " Or with the silencer,
Its 1/2 Unf & will take most silencers,

Can anyone put a price on the one in the Pic, ? & Is it worth me making a batch, ( Adapters or Silencers, or both )
There must be many break barrel BSA,s out there, Cheers, Ged.

Hiya John, " Very nice "
My Innova with a Parker Hale silencer, Is the quietest gun I have ever heard !
It would go well with this long stroked Innova,( Ali breech) 11.2 Fpe on 3 pumps -

I guess not going to get around to finishing half of my projects, !!
Here is a Pic of my Auto cocker ( saying no more )
Its further on than this now,

Another for my old age ! ( here already !! ) Ha ha, Ged.

I think a supply of moderator-adaptors for fitting UNF silencers to old BSA airguns (and rimfires) would be very well received by collectors.

    Hi Ged

I have a Whisperer silencer that looks just like yours that I bought in the 80's but IIRC mine was an Air Logic. I assume they were one and the same, just re-badged?

That sounds about right. Mine comes in two parts, the 'adaptor' that pushes onto the barrel and the silencer bit that screws into the adaptor. It looks just like the one in Ged's photos.

Thats intresting ! Are they all empty, With or without baffles it sounds the same,
I made a silencer for the lightning I was playing with, I made it heavy & out of steel, The gun handles much better for the weight, As Above, baffled or not it sounds the same !-

I might add, As you know I have been playing with " Gas Rams "
I have finished now & will swap the gun, But I came to this conclusion,
( Bearing in mind its only my opinion )

Rams are much quieter than springs, They are also consistent,
I left the lightning in the garage overnight, ( It was freezing ) Chronoed it at
    560 Fps, ( 16 grain )
A couple of weeks later, Warm afternoon , Gun average temp, 566 & 570 fps,
So they do rise in pressure, But not enough to be concerned about, Left cocked overnight, 562 Fps,

Same gun, Same afternoon, 30 grain 330 Fps ? It was just making 7 Fpe !!!! I am sure that would have been a spring breaker,
    If I was a shooter/hunter which I am not, I would definitely go for a Ram !
    Cheers, Ged.
