    CP88 silencer sorted!

I finally managed to fit a proper silencer to my CP88, it's a Weihrauch and works VERY well! Gives it a real "007" look I think! The report is more like a muffled pop now than the usual crack - much more neighbour friendly...

It's mounted by the brocock adaptor, which came with a "silencer" but it's more use as a paperweight! However, the adaptor is a 1/2" UNF fitting so any silencer can be fitted. I had to strip the blueing off the threads as the silencer was too tight.

Initially the silencer was a bit "on the piss" and the pellets would have clipped it. I had to shim it with..selotape - the engineers friend! it's shooting fine now and is securely fitted despite my bodge job! I can shoot to my hearts content now!

Ok, so the silencer does it's job beautifully - but....

I now have some accuracy problems! Initially it was fine, grouping just as well as before, but I did have a couple clip the end of the silencer so I had a go at re-shimming it.

The silencer is now in line with the barrel, but accuracy have gone to pot...any ideas why this may be? They're definitly not clipping any more, and co2 is good (ie, not dead).....

Is the moderator centered front & rear or just "not clipping" I spent several hours with the adapter on my Venom Viper barrel shroud to get to the point where POI was the same with the mod on or off.
Can you get someone to make you a straight rod to safely fit the barrel to allow you to check the mod centering?

Thanks for the reply Nick, by looking down the silencer I can see right through the barrel and it looks to be lined up nicely; however, selotape obviously isn't the best material for shimming so I'll have to retry it using your method. So I need a straight length of 5mm bar really then don't I, then just shim the adaptor until the bar slides through cleanly...?

Having said that, I'm not too bothered about the POI being the same with or without the silencer, just that the POI is consistent with it on as I will mostly be using it with the silencer.

I've just had another look at it, and it was still out quite a bit. I've re-shimmed it, see how it works tomorrow...

Wow, the pics are great the Weihrauch silencer really looks good on the CP88 (I have a Weihrauch fitted to my rifle so I know they work great). I was thinking of trading my CP88 in, but after seeing your pistol I may have to have a rethink.

Good luck with shimming the silencer/adaptor, if it shoots as well as it looks you are on to a winner.

Ha, I thought this thread was long gone!

Yea, It took a bit of fiddling. Although the selotape shimming might sound crude, it's actually very effective! Once the silencer was correctly aligned, I managed to recover the accuracy. It seems that the follow through is more important with it on, as small movements after pulling the trigger seem to affect the POI. As long as I use a good technique when shooting, accuracy is just as good.

Makes the pistol MUCH quieter too!

You may need the adjustable sights on it, as I have, so you can see above the silencer. I don't think the standard ones are tall enough...

Alternatively, you could get the rail adaptor and mount a red dot.

With a red dot & moderator bigger than the gun you'll have your neighbors thinking you're special forces
