    £80-£120
For new get a Weihrauch HW40PCA or a Gamo Compact. They are not too expensive and you can work on your technique until you get 90s and then get a proper expensive one.

    £100-200

Second hand you can get a Feinwerkbau 165 or 180, a Tau 7, Original 10 or FAS would be better if you have more money as a starter gun.

I'd second that - I put a red dot sight on one this morning and my five year old daughter shot it in a HFT Pistol comp and got 39 ex 250 (50 shots, 5 for a kill and 2 for a plate) The one knockdown she got was a 30 yard target, so it may just be my cr@ppy zeroing that's holding her back!

For sheer reliability at the very top end of this market, I would opt for either the Steyr LP10P or it's Anschutz derivative and the FWB P34/40.

I started off with the club's FWB 65 and 80, then bought my own FWB Mod. 2, followed by a FWB 103 and currently have a Steyr LP10P. Of the lot, the Steyr is the most forgiving, however, my average hasn't gone up simply because I have stopped training seriously. In other words, the best of kit is not a passport to higher scores, if one does not practice correctly and regularly.

Yeah, when the Gamo Compact came out Hugh Love shot some astonishing scores with it. Well, thats what the advert showed anyway.

I use a Morini 162E after spending a lots of money climbing the 'quality' ladder. I suggest you buy the best true match pistol you can afford as doing it in stages, part ex-ing on the way up, can be very expensive. If in the end you dont like the sport at least you have a decent match pistol to sell on. Poor quality equipment (and therefore lower scores) can put you off 10m pistol shooting for good.
