    "Hunter" Jap 3x9x40 scope

Having very recently acquired said scope, I was wondering if any of you more learned colleagues could identify its source. It is I think of 70s or 80s vintage and is gloss black, and still incidentaly performing very well with a surprisingly good image from its "TV" view-finder. I seem to remember ASI importing something like this many moons ago but would be interested if anybody could provide some additional information.
    Thanks

I remember Hunter scopes, and I think I had one back in the day... I'd say they were about in the 80s rather than 70s. If you know anybody with a collection of old Airgun World mags you may find importer info from an advert or review?

I've recently picked up a 'TV view' Leslie Hewwit 4X40, and I think Kassner scopes were available in TV or W/A view around the mid 80s. (I seem to remember Kassner scopes were imported by a chap called Paul Kassner).

I also remember the "Kassnar" scopes Phil. Anyway, regardless of who imported this fine example of Jap engineering, it still performs remarkebly well were it matters, and impressed me no end at the outdoor today. The TV view is great !

    I had a "Hunter" scope.

It was a 4x40, and I bought it from Arthur Bales and Sons in Cardiff in 1984.

I also bought the Sportmatch one piece mount for the BSA Mercury it was to be fitted to.

As I recall, it was well up to the job, giving a good image and holding zero perfectly.

I sold the Mercury with the scope still attached.........ho hum!!!!

I have a old Kassnar 2-7x32 TV view, lovely no frills hunting scope. Focuses down to a couple of yards on 2x mag. Wide angle gives good target aquisition, great for ratting. Regards, Geoff.

They are all I use, also got a Tasco World Class Plus 3-9x40 but my everyday scope is an old Japanese made Bushnell Trophy 6-18x40 AO, it is a beautifully made scope, the black gloss finish still hardly marked. I think it could still hold its own against many more modern and far more expensive scopes. Even better that I got it free on a rifle I bought!! Regards, Geoff.

I would particualrly like to get hold of the Tasco AG 2-7x32 AO. Nice and light with that sharp and bright jap image quality. One day maybe!
