    What is a Truplex reticle

    Hi

I should like to know what is a truplex reticle and how is it different to a duplex or 30/30 reticle.

I understand Mil-Dot and ladder so no comments about my asphericals please and I have done a quick search but it didn't help

    cheers

... it seems it's associated with Simmons scopes but I am still non the wiser ... it looks like a standard 30/30 but with an outer circle ... or is it my myopic eyes

would still appreciate an opinion etc

Similar to a Duplex (thick on outside, thin in middle) but with a smaller thin bit and longer thick bits. As you say, Simmons use this reticle a lot.

Sounds like what I normally call a "tight" duplex....
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

I think Leupold also call it a fine duplex just to add to any confusion.

The 30/30 reticule is named because the gap between the thick posts is supposed to subtend 30" at 100 yards on 4x mag. Read that somewhere...

.... thanks chaps for the help which has cleared up my confusion in that I thought there was an outer thick circle at the ends of the "thick bits" - so it's a tight or fine duplex or 30/30

    cheers

It's the width of the chest of a Whitetail Deer at 100 Yards i.e.30"@4x.
