My two barrelled Webley Service MkII

    .
Following this thread: http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=454615, I would just like to say a big thank you to the BBS member who came up with the goods for me (a member who modestly, and cautiously, still wishes to remain anonymous ), for finding me the extra .177 barrel I wanted, and I would also like to share some photos of the same with you here, as am as chuffed as a chuffed thing with it, and don’t do the quiet contemplation thing.

Now I know the Service MkII pictured here, my Service MkII (a late third series circa 1939), isn't the best condition Service MkII out there, but it is mine, and means a lot to me, as I know its history, as I obtained it from the family, of the man who bought it new, as a .22, a shooter who has now sadly died. Right then, that’s it for this thread really, a thank you, and a wish, as stated, to show my fellow collectors said snaps of my now “two barrelled” pride and joy.

    Atvb: Gareth.

Well Gareth, it looks a lot better than a mono-barrelled Service. But those two barrels look a bit lonely without a .25 cal to make up the full complement, don't you think?

We could take bets on how many times you would need to bump a wanted thread to obtain a genuine Webley one.

Your local rifle club has a competition which is open only to the Webley Service Rifle enough rifles turn up so any member who wishes gets a chance to shoot it, this year twelve service rifles turned up and were availible to shoot.
The competition was won by an eighty year old member who was ten years older than his rifle.
The thing everyone noticed was the smell of burnt oil in the range as these air rifles produce quite a bit of smoke when shot.

You are very lucky man indeed Gareth, nowadays spare barrels are only traded, as money is not enough.

Don't suppose he had a military pattern to spare

    Well done to you both.
