In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.
Vixen are part of the early '80's revolution and an important part but at the end of the day are only well tuned HW 35's. Collectable? Yes, but no great premium.
If its an early Rhino scope then they were very good. Later ones aren't.
Stripped and oiled stocks are never a good thing unless done at the custom stage.
So £200 is plenty for a field used Vixen. Mint then as high as £350. The bottom line is that a good working spring rifle with an effective range to about 30m is a £150 gun, or less, unless there are some very good reason for a premium. Now at £150 a good springer example is good value compared to newer stuff, but the better new stuff is quite a bit better. Pays your money......
Hello All ,
In the early 80’s I bought a Vixen, new with all the bits and bobs, from a dealers advert in the Airgun world. ( An Air rifle in the post ? Whatever next !! )
A brand new HW35E Vixen.
Initially I thought it was pretty poor, crap actually, but MAG said stick with it and it gets better.
Well, it didn’t.
So I sold it and bought an Airsporter S. Great gun. That lasted a few years.
Then I discovered the HW80.
That was that. Still have it, and apart from the weight, the best airgun I have ever owned.
Please bear in mind the above guns were bought for hunting, with a scope and all were in 0.177.
I have a HW35E now, because I wanted one and the price was right, but it’s still not a patch on the HW80.
I will say though, the HW35E is a very good looking gun.
Sam.
As a comment though , I thought that only the HW35E were Vixens .
No Sam..you could get them with both barrels & both stocks.
I'm off to think of a new username.....pays too much...might be applicable..
Nice one sexy... i'll let you explain that one to the members that won't comprehend it's meaning..
Re...MOST people on here know who the good guys are lets say, perhaps the ones that seem to like buying and selling more than they actually like shooting/rifles, and the ones that pull fast ones on descriptions !
Lets say Hwvixens genuine enthusiasm for classic kit has not always been met with such 'genuine' sellers one or two of whom who must stick out like a sore thumb as bandits by now, by shear volume of kit sold -
Wise words sexy...at least I TRY TO CONTRIBUTE (he doesn't)....even if i'm not always completely right. Thanks again for the "heads up" !
