    Car boot. BSA Supersport?

Last weekend I bought a BSA .22 air rifle from a car boot sale for £25. The Serial No. is DS 37653 it looks like a Supersport but I can't find the DS prefix on any lists of identification numbers. Can anyone help to confirm it is a Supersport.

That's an Lightning (a Supersport with Maxigrip scoperail), with an after-market moderator.
A real bargain you got there.

    Carboot Supersport

    Thanks Bart.
Its a shame but I have an empty box for a Supersport so I will have to keep looking to see if I can find another.

I don't think it's a Lightning. It's a Supersport Carbine. The DS prefix denotes .22 Supersport. I think the Carbine had the Maxigrip rail as standard, and was fitted with the silencer adapter/muzzle weight (yours has a silencer screwed into it). You could also fit open sights (it would have come with them fitted as standard).

The Lightning, I think, had no facility for open sights and had a permanently fitted silencer.

The Supersport custom came with maxi grip but they where only on MK1 supersports and had a different stock.

But that could have been changed.

Yours looks like a MK2 but cant be sure from the picture.

SS custom also had an adjustable breech bolt and pretend 2 stage trigger should help confirm or rule out. The muzzle adapter looks like the factory carbine.

    Car boot Supersport

Thanks everyone for your replies. It looks like it is a Supersport carbine.
It has not got an adjustable breech screw but it has holes for fixed sights.

    Nice find,
I sold my ol' BSA Goldstar dirt cheap at a booty a few years back, regretted it ever since.
