Things have certainly tightened up, which is a good thing. My club ran on trust and innocence for a number of years, but we had a couple of nutters who tried to join, and we had to look more closely at who attended the club. We now ask for ID, and prospective members have to declare that they can own an air rifle, according to Section 21 of the Fire Arms Act. Our coaches are in the process of passing CRB checks.

Hi, asking for passport photo's when becoming a member is normal, reason is that different shooting fees exist in our club for member and non-members.
Our club asks for 2 ID photos, one for your membership card, the other for a wallchart listing all current members.
Asking for gun serial numbers is OTT, most of our members have more than one gun.
Imagine a club with 60 to a 100 menbers, part exchanging, buying new, swopping between members.
I would feel sorry for the secretary keeping up with the changes!
