    rohm trainer or S&W 586

Hi all,I know the Smith is just about the best Umarex co2 multishot about but is the Rohm Trainer a better co2 multishot?
I have an option of buying 1 or the other at a decent price...which to go for?

Buy the Smith now, get a Twinmaster Allrounder/Top/Sport/Match later, don't get a trainer, instead get one of the above models, if you go for an allrounder with ambi grip you have an upgrade path - the target grips bolt on, the PCP kit bolts on,
    Regards,
    Nick

Edit- Forgot to mention you can tune the PCP Rohms for Pistol FT, the trigger becomes too heavy for multi-shot but the mod is reversible.

Edit- If it's for IPAS get the Smith

I would certainly go for the Smith if you like a revolver style. The CP88 is a very popular choice in semi auto style. Both are accurate pistols.

Agree with Nick about the Rohm as well, the trainer is not the best of their range. The Top comes as a double action & has a single shot mag supplied as well.

I love my Smith but the Rohm is a better pistol

It has the same body and barrel as the Top. It will be more accurate and have a better trigger in single action. My Top would put every pellet through a single .177 sized hole at 15 yards all day long. The Smith is the best and most accurate of the "real firearm clones", but it won't do that. Nick's right in that the Allrounder/Top etc have a better upgrade path but if you can get a Trainer for the right price you won't regret it.

I assumed we were talking about the second, funny looking gizmo with the shorter barrel?

My vote for the trainer, had both, sold the smith, love the trainer. Maybe it's just me but get on with it so well....

But as Nick said, the action is worth looking at and then you have an upgrade path, but I a Top, and just wanted the triner for some extra fun

Yes I always get those two mixed up, but the trainer does have the same action block and I'd be very surprised if the actual barrel inside wasn't from the same blanks as the other pistols, albeit shorter.

Hadn't thought about this until now but does the trainer class as a target pistol?
If so check the current IPAS rules as target pistols were previously excluded from competitions,

I think I asked this in the past, and the Trainer is classed as a target pistol.
IPAS pistols have to be replicas.
