    No.1 bore, No.2 bore etc.

    No.1 bore, No.2 bore etc.

    What is the origin of these designations? I remember the boxes of Marksman pellets I used to buy in the early 1990s were still marked so.

    No.1 is .177 isn't it? No.2 .22?
