Webley Mk 2 butt pad
I need to replace the butt plate on my Webley Service as I bought it with a non stadard metal one. I can imagine that an original would be almost impossible to source. Has anyone needed to replace this and come up with a solution/workaround that looks reasonably authentic?

I believe the original was made from Buffalo Horn.
A gunmaker friend of mine made a replacement for me from an old shotgun butt plate, which seemed to be a similar material.

I believe we have some Buffalo's now residing on our shores....

There are horn blanks out there....maybe try shottie / black powder websites;

Or..closer to home, I have used a vulcanite shape to fit pad from Chambers on a BSA I have.....easy stuff to sand etc. and a thin one would look well on a mark 2 IMHO......The one I used was quite thick as the stock had rotted away half an inch or so after being stood on a damp/wet floor for yonks

JG Airguns in the US sells repro Mk2 Service buttplates. I bought one years ago and it was a rather crude blue-ish plastic moulding, which would need to be blackened somehow to look anything like the original. Not sure what I did with it but I remember being disappointed when it arrived.

Thanks to all for the advice and useful links. I think I try my luck at bisley tomorrow to see if there is anything suitable in the odds and ends boxes at the fair.
