Thanks for that link Chris.
I see in that list also the 9.4 dutch caliber.
I sold a couple of months 2 dutch revolvers to a U.K citizen and they are free in the U.K
The 45-70 Goverment cartridge is also present in the list that means they are free without license for sale in the U.K ?
45-70 is most certainly not classed as an obsolete calibre and is on ticket in the UK.
45/70 is not on the obsolete list although I have seen them for sale off ticket.
fwiw ... I have a Remington Lee in .43 which is off ticket
Yes, i have in the past also seen trapdoors 45-70 for sale in the U.K
Here a pic of my Lee (not for sale in the U.K)

.45-70 doesn't appear on that list.
It's still used in the US, for deer hunting and by marksmen in old-timey events.

that rifle in the pic has a very short barrel is that the original config ie was this rifle used for line throwing??

In the case of old cartridges such as the 45-70, obsolete usually means that factory ammunition is no longer available, most definately "NOT" the case regarding the 45-70 Gov.
