    The new ND3 from BSA

has anybody had the chance to play with one yet seems to be loads of money for a light with green beam. as i do most of my hunting by night this does appeal to me but would it be any better than a deben gun light with a red filter????

This seems to be the main thread on it: http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/show...ht=green+laser

My instinct is that it is a helluva lot of money for something that, to me, does the same job as a lamp. However, if it made a lightsaber 'swoosh' noise, I'd find the money somehow.

Why are they calling it a "designator"? Because it sounds Tacticool?

A PROPER UNBIASED review of the ND3 with beamshots.

    Here.

Beam instabilities on startup and exceedingly overpriced but does what it says on the tin. Bear in mind the reviewer did not use it in a hunting situation so no conclusion can be reached about suitability in that respect.

...which is a bit of a shame as that is what it is being plugged for.

If it works great - if it doesnt its an expensive boys toy.

I use an OMG Deft to great effect - similar idea in that it uses an aspheric lens to focus the beam from a 260 lumen cree R2 LED emitter and boy does this beast have legs.

It is a great torch to ID long range stuff clearly illuminating long range targets and outshines my cars headlights on full beam.

The laser should outperform this but the deft is still limited for hunting and I still rely on a wide beam to sweep and to ID backgound.

This torch on tight beam will also be bad at this. Flood wil degrade the beaams strength and range.

The review wasnt that brilliant for a hunting interest and the video of it turning on and off isnt much help either though agreed usefull to know
In a battle of wits I refuse to engage with an unarmed person.

Agreed but he's a torch/laser geek rather than a hunter

    I Have One Of These

    Mines The Nd3 500mw Version

    Its Awesome Technology .

Its Performs Vary Well Up To 150yds Depending On Weather .
The Beam Is Very Tight & Powerfull . The Vermins Eyes Litterally Jump Out Of The Bush For Shooting !!!
Run Time on 1 cr123 Battery is about 8-9 hours .
Tack Switch Included as well as mount for sight .
Focus the beam from the size of a 1 penny to as much as needed for scanning your quarry .

No Its Not NightVision !!! As BSA QUOTE !!!!!!

BUT Its Cetainly Not Just A Green Torch Either .

Bad Points You can be seen from miles away . Its Very Bright .

SO DONT SHINE AT BIG METAL CAR TYPE THINGS !!!!!!!

But the beam is very tight so the light does not spill over the edge of the Circle .

Ill Put A Better Review UP Soon .

    I hope This Helps
