sounds like a good advert for pistol shooting.
Pistol shooting, better than most drugs![]()
I had a bit of a funny do this lunchtime when I shot two categories of the 10m during my lunchbreak. I like to get a rythm going and compared to some, I do tend to shoot the comps quite quickly.
Anyhoo, there I am concentrating on stance, hold, breathing, sight picture and foresight as you do. I must've been concentrating a little too hard and forgetting to exhale fully because after the final shot string, I went to put the Original 10M back in it's case and nearly keeled over!
Talk about dizzy - I had to steady myself against the shooting bench for a few moments and I felt extremely light-headed.
Anyone else done this, or am I just a muppet?![]()

I am a pistaholic, and proud of it
I did actually think it was a similar "high" to a particular drug I had a fleeting experience with during my student days...
...after the panic had subsided, that is!
Cheeky sod - I'll have you know I'm in my prime!
Not at work, Phil - except Fridays!
Seriously though, I've thought about this since and I was taking two deep breaths, one in the ready position and the other as I brought the gun up, exhaling as I lowered it on target and then holding it to take the shot. I think I must've forgotten to exhale for the first breath, and then not exhaled fully on the second. By the time I'd loosed two lots of ten shots, the CO2 in my bloodstream must have been off the scale.
Having said that, I'm quite pleased with my last scores in the Spring category - legal high-assisted!![]()
Fancy shooting your air pistols & rifles a bit more, then guy's & gal's come visit us at theUBC for loads of fun competitions for all types of air pistols and rifles.
Maybe yr exhale was too long.
Or, because you shoot quite fast, the oxigen isnt back to normal between shots.
Ór yr bloodsugar was low cause you were hungry

Typical, bloody typical. One sensible answer, five silly answers.
Do we never learn?
On a serious note. I never could get a hang of this 'correct breathing'. I never take deep breaths, just normal and exhale when I bring the pistol up to target, being careful not to exhale all the air, 'cos that'll make yer head spin.
If that fails see my previous post.
Good luck, Phil
I take a couple of deep breaths, and slowly let out a shallow breath during the shot. It's shakey hands that I have trouble with.
Hi MIke what ever it was its left you confused
Hyperventilation is breathing too fast
What you were doing sounds like hypoventilation, not breathing enough
Just so you knows like![]()
