My MFR will gradually lose all of it's air over a period of a couple of weeks, with the bottle screwed on. Is this fairly typical? I bought it new in May of this year.
Chris.
I don't think this is a common problem with the MFR, mine doesn't lose any even when stored for weeks. There are a few area's where you could lose air, namely leaking seals in the regulator or past the knock open valve. So you need to get it checked out.
The MK2s were ok when the bottle was left attached but some MK2s used to lose air from the bottle when unscrewed due to a bad seal of the ball bearing valve. Theoben supplied a cap to screw on them.
The MFR has different valve to earlier MKIIS, it shouldnt leak though Chris, mine doesnt lose anything when left for longish periods

Thanks for the replies guys. I spoke to someone at the shop I bought it from, and they suggested that maybe I had'nt screwed the bottle on tight enough. I shall top the bottle up, and check tightness, although I don't think this is the cause. My problem is I can't hear air escaping, but after about a week and a half, the bottle is down to about fifty bar from an initial one eighty bar fill. And yes, I do fill the bottle slowly![]()

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the invite to Sunday @ Cromer, I'll definatly be back again.
You could try a condom over the bottle up to the reg (wash the lube off though).
If you are feeling really brave and not too fussed over the zero, remove the action from the stock and remove the barrel, and place another over the action (it may just fit over without splitting)
The oe over the bottle should show you if the bottles leaking from the bottle/fitting connection (as discussed on Sunday) the second should show you if it's leaking from elsewhere.
Just a thought, others may be able to advise further, but if the bottles full it shouldn't take too long to show you where the leaks from.
Putting a condom over the barrel doesn't always indicate a leak on a rapid from my thought, as I've found that the pellet probe leaks internally (there's a bit of a clearance on the MKII (mine anyway) which allows for air to travel between the probe and the "pellet pin"within the probe.
Take care
Rob
Yep, air is leaking out of the small hole at the base of the reg. A bit of spit is a wonderful thingIs this an easy fix?
Chris.
might be worth asking ben taylor
I believe there was a batch of MFRs with dodgy o-rings in the reg. Your gun is under guarantee so it should go back to wherever you bought it to be fixed.
Jonathan
the reg that ben taylor used in the 400 I have has large o rings at either end of the reg and in between those O-rings is a small hole which sounds similar to what you describe, assuming ben fits theoben like regs to the 400's, it definitely sounds like the o-rings have gone
i read somewere if you have a leaking valve, you need to give it a really quick blast of air from the divers bottle, and this should move anything out the way {grit, dust,etc.., suppose in theory it would work.....![]()

Thanks to all who replied, I'll be on the phone today to sort return out. You're welcome Rob, come and see us anytime mate![]()
Chris.
There were a few regs that leaked, its quite easy to fix but you need to be able to reset the reg so better to see Theoben, or Ben Taylor if you want it upgraded
Baz
Before you go blasting air into he bottle, apparently thats only recomended on the 400cc (MK1 & 2) bottles, the MFR (or other variants) with the 280 (or 200cc I forget) have a shrader(??) type valve similar to a car tube valve (but higher perssure rated)
Blasting air through these valves apparently can burn them out as they are recommended with a slow charge rate.
Check the theoben website, off hand, it's under either "info" or "accessories".
nothing to do with the bottles, its a regulator fault, its normaly the smaller of the the 2 small piston orings that fail through loss of texture or blowing, very easy fix and easy to reset, best to up grade the orings as a matter of course.

Thanks for the replies all. I'm sending the reg. back to Theoben tomorrow, who will do what's necessary. BTW I had a helpful mail from Martin of Theoben waiting for me when I got back from work![]()
