    Unhappy If only....

    If only....

....Webley had brought out commemorative replicas of the Mk2 Service before going bust

....John Griffiths preferred spring rifles to spring pistols

....Airgun World produced a 200-page annual collector's special

....BSA sold NOS parts for its pre-War rifles

....Bell target shooting was as popular now as in the 1920s

I dread to think how much that would have cost, even if it had been possible.
There are still a few superb examples around.

The Air Pistol book took up enough years of John's life, so he won't be doing a Rifle book, unfortunately.

To so this you'd have to raise the standard of television to the level of Radio 4, and increase the duty on beer to the point at which no working man could afford to get drunk!

WHAT KIND OF SOCIETY ARE YOU PLANNING, BELL-RINGER???????

......Then it would be TOO easy, and we wouldn't get to meet all the interesting people, and end up travelling all over the place looking for old stuff.......half or more of the fun for me personally

And if only I had unlimited funds ...how easy would that be?

    Ed's right of course.
The research, the thrill of the chase, the bargaining, the sleepless nights, the time spent on here LOL, drooling over the latest find, the hours spent tinkering, the place in the cabinet and the search for that elusive.....''last' next one''!

Still, if only I'd had the foresight and the money to buy all those unloved oldies way back then.
Like Garvin, I'll carry on dreaming.

Perhaps the good Dr. Fraud would have classed it as 'the human condition'.

Yes yes, points taken, all very well made etc. But these are my personal dreams. TBH I was expecting less deconstruction of them and more of your own ones....

    If only......

    (1) Electro etching was a little bit harder wearing

    (2) Haenel had made a few more drum repeaters

    (3) The Falke factory had left a bit more information around....

    (4) Webleys were still made in Birmingham

    (5) Most airguns still had springs in ....

    Ha Ha
