    What air rifle for survival?

OK, mates, this is one of those "let your imagination run wild" scenarios.

It's the end of the world as you know it, and you're forced into a survival mode. You're not in some exotic locale: you're in your own neighborhood. (Not saying that your neighborhood's not an exotic locale, but you know what I mean!).

You can have one air rifle - or air pistol, for that matter - as your only gun. It can be any make, model, caliber, vintage, power level, cost, etc. but it MUST be an air gun.

    So, what's your choice?

Good question young Jim. First thoughts, self contained, maybe a Theoben gas ram. Oh and you can have the Red Ryder bb gun.

    Back later with more thoughts.

    Good luck, Phil

Agree that self contained is vital as you couldn't guarantee the availability of bottled air for ever. Not too fussed on make but I would think that a .25 running at around 30fps would be sufficient to kill anything that you might want to eat as well as carrying enough punch to deter man sized threats too

Can I have a Girandoni? .51 calibre lead balls at 1000 fps. Plus pumping it back up would give me something to do.

If it has to be a self-contained powered rifle then I'd probably choose a Theoben Eliminator or a Theoben Fenman.

Where do you get your Theoben gas rams pumped up and serviced?
It's got to be a good quality springer like a TX200.
