What type of shooting are you interested in?

ISSF and NSRA style target rifle needs the jacket, sling, potentially trousers and boots, etc in addition to the rifle, as does NSRA/ISSF Air Rifle. NRA target rifle needs a jacket, sling, etc.

Field Target can be very basic, but equally you can get into all sorts of elaborate custom stocks and big scopes with parallax wheels.
Benchrest can be pretty basic - a rifle and a sandbag - but equally you can start to accumulate toys.

Pistol is certainly going to require less kit. Pistol, you and a pair of flat-bottomed shoes and you're good to go.

Which is harder to get to grips with? Well, Pistol is an inherently less accurate firearm, and harder to shoot, but then if you don't have an instructor, rifle could equally be tough to get to grips with or tough to get the kit set up to suit you.

Ultimately it's what you enjoy doing.

Since you're asking if anyone wants to meet up and help you, I assume you're not interested in joining a club, so that limits you to airgun, presumably plinking in a back garden, in which case either will give you satisfaction.

But then you should know all this, as 99% of your posts are buying/selling various airguns, kit, etc
