    Hw35

Can any of you nice people give me an idea of how old an HW35 with serial number 708872 is ??? The gun has a "rounded" stock with no grip cap and is not Hull Cartridge stamped .Also is it likely to be a leather piston seal or will I have to strip it down to be sure ??

    The reponse I got:

    ----------------
we refer to your inquiry of 17.10.03.

The gun in question mod. HW 35 number 195863 was produced in 1965.

Ive just heard back today from Weihrauch with the manufacturing dates for a few of my rifles. Excllent service.
As a rough guide: in 1977 the safety catch appeared. In 1980 the scope rails went from 13mm to the more normal 11.5mm.

Mine has the sn 778058 and was build in 1980. I think yours was build around 1975-1977 and yes, it has a leather seal.

You can get replacement piston heads that will convert a leather washer to the modern plastic/nylon washer, I did this same conversion on a HW55, but you do loose some of the 'character' of the rifle I.M.O.

Thanks for all the replies. It might make sense to convert it to the plastic seal as the leather one is over double the price which makes buying the piston almost economic

You dont buy the full piston you just get an adaptor which screws onto the piston head (using the old leather washer attaching screw) which then allows you to fit a nylon piston head. Got mine for my HW55 from B.A.R.
