    Edgar Brothers Opti-90 Red Dot.

This red dot came with a Marlin .357 1894CS that I bought a few years ago. It's served me quite well. They are no longer made and used to be sought after by Marlin owners in the U.K. as they represented good value for money. They easily soak up any recoil from a .357, once I had it zeroed, I've never had to readjust.

I've no idea of the parent company that made the Edgar Brothers Opti-90 (Edgar Brothers is an importer, not a manufacturer), however it's a decent quality product and is all Japanese made, a rarity in this day of cheap Chinese red dots.

It's a well put together item, the build is solid and the glass is clear. Although I received no box myself, I did receive the sunshade and scope rings that come as standard with it, and these are reasonable quality items. As for regards to battery life, I've owned it for four years and it's still on the same battery that came with it when I bought it. Admittedly, it doesn't get used every month but even so, that's some impressive battery life. The scope rings are of the weaver type, I've had no problem fitting them onto a picatinny rail however.

The red dot does "flare" on higher settings, so I keep it to around setting 5 or 6 out of 11. The dot is nice and bright, and is 4 MOA.

Side profile of the Opti-90. It's lightweight, and suits itself well to a long barreled revolver or a semi auto .22 rimfire.

A good look at the dot, this is on setting 6 of 11.

With the sunshade filter fitted (it is threaded and screws into the front of the main housing).

Without the sunshade, as you can see the optics are coated. I've never had any fogging issues with this red dot.

Adjustments unfortunately require a screwdriver, they are however indexed so you can feel the clicks when adjusting.

Remember Moneypenny's AR15 in the train sequence in the movie "Skyfall"? Have a look at the red dot, it's an Opti-90!
