I bought one of these new years agao and it was my first gun, in their advert in Sporting Air Rifle 1984 they claimed very close to the power limit, im sure mine was around the 11 ftlbs mark..
very kindly been sent one of these to have a look at. Can anyone give me any info, what the Gamo model no is etc. After stripping 3 different sorts of paratrooper and a delta cadet, I have been put off Gamo,s but intend to stip thius for a look inside. The cylinder seems very long and I am wondering if this is near a full power gun? Thanks

At least initially, it doesn't appear to have had a different Gamo model number or designation. It was the Gamo Magnum, sold in this country as the ASI Magnum.
Compare this with the Gamo Expo, also called (by them) the Model 200 (or is it, more accurately, the Expo 200 ?), which was sold in this country as the ASI Sniper.

I had one in the early 1980s. Horrible thing - shot like a pig.
I actually like other ASI models though - I think Snipers are great little rifles, and I have a Statical which I think was a great idea that could have been better executed.

I CAN RESIST EVERYTHING EXCEPT AN FWB,
I stripped this last night and put it back together. If anyone is interested, I will put up the stripdown in the "Idiots guide". I could not get the piston washer off and I suspect need a soft jaw vice and a big screwdriver. The seal actually looked ok, I was just curious as to whether it would come off easily. found that some of the Spanish guns have screws, bolts and pins that are really tight (try a paratrooper barrel pivot screw). The spring was pretty knackered and seemed small in diameter for the size of the piston so |I found a larger diameter one of a similar length ( didn,t fancy another stripdown for a coil bound spring). I,t dieseled for about 6 or 7 shots and seems to have settled now. I fitted a 4 x 20 ASI single post tele on it and plinked with it this morning. It is fine for plinking although the sight picture wasnot great in the morning gloom. Fore sight is missing and so is rearsight blade. not up to refinishing the stock as my arms have been playing up.

I have one of these.
Under the "ASI Super Magnum" sticker on the cylinder, You can just make out the pressed wording "El Gamo".
On the lefthand side of the breechblock, it says "MAGNUM CAL 5.5 (.22)" and also states the serial number.
Mine is pushing out Superdomes at a VERY consistent 530fps, but the firing cycle is very twangy.
The trigger operation is surprisingly nice, and the accuracy is very good too.
