Rapid regulator types and bottle compatibility

    Hi Guys,

just got hold of a Rapid reg, but I've hit a snag - it won't "open" my bottles (280cc). Looks like the "pip" in the reg that pushes open the shrader valve stem is the problem - it's actually a hollow tube, and the bottle valve stem is simply going into the hollow centre..

Now I could (probably will) plug it to sort the problem, but am somewhat curious to know why this is occuring before bodging

    TIA,

    JB

You've got the older type reg there, Jon, with the hollow brass center pin. The later regs use a solid stainless pin that will do the job, perhaps see if you can do a swap somewhere?

ive a couple of spare regs jon,as sam says the hollow push pin type are no good for the shcrader valves,i would not just change the push pin disc,as the piston nose cone seal is not force to match.have you thought of changing the schrader valve for a ball or later rod type valve as on the 400 cc.

ive only seen 2,as far as i know its the complete valve and housing from the 400 cc bottle, not sure if any mods need to be done, but i guess the thread fit will just be the same.i have not got a 280cc here to check.
