Meteor Mk 1 breech seal

Hi All

Can the breech seal on my Mk 1 meteor be taken out and put in the other way up or is it only a one-way fit?

Also there is a virtical "groove" running all the way through the centre hole of the seal from front to back which looks like part of the original manufacture

Is this correct? I think it must make it a bit leaky...

Cant imagine why you couldnt reverse it. I have noted with the modern bsa breech washers for metoer that they do have a rounded side and a non rounded side that obviously isnt the business end. Replacements are only £3 ish from knibbs or on that internet auction place. Dont know about that groove thing, sorry.

Popped out to the local gunshop and got a new seal for 2.75

I now know that hey are not reversible - they have a rounded side and a flat side.
