Removing Mk 1 Meteor piston head

Please could someone kindly advise how to change the leather washer on the piston head of a 1959 Meteor?

There seems to be a sort of circlip stopping the piston head moving sideways and out?

Thanks for all and any advice

    Hi Matt
working inside the piston with a small screwdriver turn/spin the circlip as you put it until the slot in the circlip lines up with the slot in the end of the piston and then the piston head should slide sideways and forward to free it from the piston someone will probably explain it better than me but hopefully this helps

    good luck Andy
