please would it be possible for some one to give me a manufacture date on a hw 35 serial number 149353 looks to be an old one with brass front sight element holder under palm swell and it has a plastic butt plate not rubber
any infomation would be appreciated

Hi. Does it have a safety catch at the rear of the action? If so, does it protrude through both sides, or just the one side? Finally, is the name Hoffman, or Edgar Brothers to be found anywhere on the gun ???

no safty and only thing stamped on rifle is weihrauch mellrichstradt - bgy it has a ring cut round the front of the cylinder and one cut round the rear
the serial number is on the trigger block and last four digits stamped on the barrel

Other than that, with no safety, i think it's pre 1976..

Does yours have the serial number at the rear end of the cylinder as well as on the trigger block??

You're right John, and not "Bay" as in the curved seashore, as some people imagine (a misunderstanding reinforced by the fact that the earliest series of Weihrauch rifles had a seagull symbol on the breech block!).

It stands for Bayern, the German name for Bavaria.
