    Hi from an older newbie

    Hi all.

I last shot an air rifle as a kid in the '70's, using old airfix kits and dinky models as targets. Things have certainly changed on the gun technology front since then!

My garden has a rat problem so whilst researching how to get rid of them the idea of buying an air rifle came up. I searched the internet and found your BBS, a font of friendly knowledge. On reading the forums I became interested in the sport of target shooting and might look at joining a club.

It would seem that a gun suitable for killing the rats would not be ideal for FT or HFT duties, can anyone recommend a good compromise model please?

Must get my posts up to 3 so I can search the For Sale section here

    Thanks

    Richard.

hi and welcome richard,if you want a a rifle for ratting,ht and ft i think a airarms 400/410 will be a good choice but it all depends on how much you want to spend as these 2 models are pcp and need a charging kit so will cost you for a good second hand set up about £550

    Thanks for the welcome guys.

I will look at the guns mentioned by tigger12and skygrowler. Obviously my previous experience is with old break barrel springers and I have never used a pcp gun. I understand that I need to buy a diving cylinder and gauge, what size cylinder and approx how much do they cost?

    Thanks again.

    Richard.
