    Bonjour de France

    Hi everyone
I have just registered on the forum as I have rediscovered a forgotten passion for air-guns after 35 years!
I live in France near Le Mans, and I have just bought a batch of air-guns from a guy who was heading back to the UK:
    - Webley Tracker Cal 22
    - Hofmann HW35 Cal 22
    - Gamo Expo Cal 22
    - Gamo ??? Cal 22 (similar to above but with different stock)
    - Sea Lion Cal .177
    - "Unknown" Cal .177

Hi Bruno, the first thing to do is get a chrono & check that all your new guns are under 10joules. Then get the ones that are over declared to your prefecture via your local gendarmes using a form modelé n° 10 which you can find here

    http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=...6cLM7ENezMEoDw

& before you do that you will have to have a Licence de tir (FFTir) valid for this year for any over 10J.
The guy that sold them to you should have done this, but has he?
Also unless laws have changed without me being aware, you are not allowed to hunt with air or gas.

    Hi Dave
All of these guns are very tired and well below the 10J mark as they can only dent a can 10 feet away. You are correct about hunting as it is not permitted with air arms in France. However, the holder of a valid "permis de chasse" can keep air guns with a power >10J even these guns are not permitted for hunting!

Hi Bruno, yes I know about the 'buy +10J with hunting licence, but can't hunt with it'
Just another French law I can't get my head round!!
I can own/buy shotguns & 'hunting caliber center fire rifles,
but can't hunt with them as I only have a shooting licence
& BP rifles/ pistols don't need a licence at all but are FAC in UK
(I'm NOT complaining, especially as I can apply for my 22lr pistol licence in January)

"C'est la vie" as they say (they say that you know!)
    Cheers, Bruno
