    eye trouble

i'am 55 and recently took up rifle shooting having not done it since school days. when i look through a diopter sight i see what looks like a ragged greyish bit of 'debris' on the left hand side of the sight picture. it looks exactly as if there's a bit of fluff in the sight. i've had my eye checked by two opticians who say they can't see anything wrong. i just wondered if anyone on here had ever come across anything like this before. my left eye's fine but of course i'am right handed!

My wife who should know better (ex national squad), a month or so back had several of us trying to clean out hairs from her back site for half an evening! Nothing there, just the hole was too small for her eye relief. Either get the rearsite a tad closer or buy an adjustable iris.
Its also similar to the post earlier this week, (Can anyone help from Dave Palmer) so have a look at the answers on that.

You are very lucky being in Bristol as you have a target shooting eye specialist on your doorstep I have to go to Bisley to see him, your normal run of the mill High St optician does not seem to understand what target shooters require particilary diopter sights, your prescription needs to be adjusted sometimes to make the sights clear. With normal prescrition my sight picture is out of true and spidery with Simon's adjustment lovely and clear there are several ways of doing this, shooting glasses, lens in a rubber eye piece(cheapest) he can advise, by the way seeing spiders or dust in the rear apeture can also be due to not enough light getting in the iris hole being too small this can be overcome with an adjustable one, hope you get sorted.

Have you tried another rifle to see if the problem is the same?
