    C02 remove or not?

    Hi folks

Wanted advice after shooting i always discharge the co2 capsule from my guns (beretta 92fs,ratcatcher),now i read that i should leave them in as it preserves the seals, however i have never done that ,and i have never had any leaking problems,so iam bit confused by this information, this has probably been covered before but i wanted to know what you folks do.

It depends how long you are going to be before you shoot it again. Certainly with air filled PCPs it is better for the seals to leave them with some pressure in, I guess it is for CO2 as well. As long as you either use CO2 cartridges with oil in, or put a small blob of suitable oil on the end of a new cartridge before fitting then the seals should last quite a while. I've has a Walther CP88 for about 5 years or so, have kept the cartridges in, shot it fairly infrequently (twice a month or so), and it still holds pressure fine. Removing the cartridge early just wastes the CO2...

Dont know about Ratcatchers but for more than a few days I would empty pistols.
The only one I have seen that says leave it in is the S&W 78G but as this was made in the 70s Im guessing that you may not have one.
If you do leave the gas in.
Stand by for other opinions but Im right

    Hi,

When I was using a CO2 twinmaster I asked the same question on the umarexboysclub site.
This link should take you to my question and answers.

Hoping that this link to another forum does not upset anybody so apologies in advance.

That been said, all information should be available to everyone.

I think it very much depends on the individual gun.

Modern umarex's to my knowledge and limited experience should be emptied, but I know stuff like the Crosman 600 should be left charged.

I guess it's usually best to follow the advice of the manufacturer

If the capsule puts direct pressure onto a seal, I take it out.
If it's like a Tau7 where the capsule goes in backwards with a piercing cap, I leave it in.
