    1983 air rifle prices

    just browsing through an old magazine, webley Vulcan deluxe 80.00, HW35E 82.00, Sterling HR81 88.00, HW80 80.00 - the new theoben Scirocco £198.00!! my god where they that far in front? did the Sterling really give 11.8 ft/lbs? what was the HW 35 luxus@ 88.00 ? and culd you really get a bowkett meteor 12 ft/lbs using standard spring ?

    Yes, I remember prices like that. The first two air rifles I bought with my own money were from The Mart in Lowestoft (?), in about 1980 or 81 I got a Webley Hawk MkIII (advertised as a MkII, so I was a bit disappointed when the MkIII turned up) for IIRC £27 or £29, and a BSA Mercury S for £69.
    In 1983 I bought a BSA Centenial for the almost unheard of sum of £230 and I remember my dad saying at the time "what tha spendin' all that money on a bloody air rifle for? Tha must be daft"
    The South of England has 2 good things, the M1 and the A1. Both will take you to Yorkshire.

    1983 Prices

    Paid 72.50 for my new HW80 in 81/82.

    Oh and 69.95 for a new BSF S70 the year before.
